- I could still hear the deafening blasts of the explosion ringing in my ears, and the smoky odor hung on my tongue. Lucian's mouth was slackened, Tori's eyes were wide like saucers, Mark was at a loss for words, and I took several gulps of air to calm my racing heart.
- Lucian's anger was growing, but he didn't know where to direct it. I felt like following him into my heart and hugging him.
