• The cold air touched my skin, but my body stayed warm. I did not shiver. My maid trembled, though, her fingers fumbling with a small device on the wall. After a moment, a soft hum filled the room as the temperature rose. She was still shaking slightly. I watched her, concerned.
• “You haven’t seen your wolf yet, have you?” She shook her head. I smiled a little. That explained it. Without a wolf’s inner warmth, the chill here was too much.
