• Those giggles reached me before anything else. Light, careless, familiar. I knew exactly who they belonged to, and hatred settled deep in my chest. That scent followed, sharp and wrong. My gaze lifted to the moon as the pack horns echoed through the distance. Wolves would be closing in soon. There was no more room for waiting. The clearing was the only ground I had, and I would not give it up.
