• A knot of anxiety twists deep inside me at the thought of being separated from Linda. She argued endlessly with Dex about it, insisting she should stay with me, but he wouldn’t budge. His reasoning makes sense, but that doesn’t make it easier. Linda is one of the best fighters in the Silver Crescent Pack, and Baron knows she would never leave my side. That means he’ll expect me to be where she is. For now, she’s our bait—and the thought of that tears at me even as I try to accept it.
