- “I’m sorry to intrude,” Alistair saidy icily. “But I hope the both of you are aware that it is quite rude to make your guest wait unattended.”
- “Right,” Alaric said with a barely concealed huff of amusement. He rose from the bed and made his way towards Alistair with confident strides that almost looked smug. “I apologize. I simply had to tend to Diana’s…pains.”
- Alistair’s jaw tensed, and it was clear, even from where Diana sat on her bed, that he was furiously gritting his teeth. His fists were tightly clenched at his sides, and he was glaring at Alaric, who remained nonchalant.
