Chapter 26 Amethyst (POV)
- I was so happy to see my mate as he opened the door. I flung myself into his arms forgetting about the others behind me in the large underground safe room. I was so concerned for him, but I knew he was ok through the bond. Several women while in there kept screaming as I was told it was due to their bond being severed as they lost their mates. My heart broke for them as I went around hugging each one trying to bring comfort as their Luna, but I know if I had been one to have had my bond severed there would be no comfort for me. Yet I had to try and be there for them.
- A few days later we held a massive ceremony to send off our fallen warriors who fought well to the end. It was very emotional as I had tears silently slide down my cheeks as we all stood there to send them off to the moon Goddess. It was done at night even though it wasn’t a full moon it was a quarter moon as we set the bodies held on a pyre on fire. We could hear all around us the howling of our wolf pack and it was the saddest sound to hear.
- The surviving families held onto their pups or loved ones as they watched the loved ones they lost being sent to the Goddess in the sky.
