- The howling didn’t stop. It echoed through the trees, louder now, like it was coming closer. My heart raced in my chest as I turned toward the source of the sound, my breath shallow.
- Kelvin was beside me, his expression grim. His hand gripped mine, squeezing tightly. I could feel the tension in his body, the readiness to fight if we needed to. But something in the air felt different. The presence of the wolves had vanished, but the feeling of danger hadn’t. It was still there, heavy like a storm waiting to break.
- “Rachael,” Kelvin said, his voice low, “we need to move. Now.”
