Chapter 40
- A cold tension had settled between us as Mike knelt on the ground with teary eyes, blood was trailing from the corner of his lips where Kelvin had struck him hard. I wasn't expecting that brutal reaction from Kelvin. Maybe he is active from the excuses we had.
- His golden-brown eyes never left mine, it was flickering with something I couldn’t quite place my fingers at— was it desperation, regret, or something far more dangerous. I couldn't tell what it was.
- Kelvin stood protectively in front of me, the way he stood tells me for sure that he was ready to defend me from Mike.
