• My father continued to speak, but his voice became a distant murmur as everything tilted, the world spinning out of control. Reyna’s face flashed before my eyes and my heart shattered into pieces as I thought of how devastated she would be. I prayed that her family survived, no longer caring if they were hunters or not. Reyna was the only thing that mattered, and losing them would destroy her.
• As we sped towards the house, the streets blurred into a chaotic mess of lights and shadows, and I felt a numbness spread through me, impeding my ability to think and breathe.
