- Slowly, I raised my head, my heart racing, sure I saw Reyna’s hand twitch but there was nothing. She was still, and my heart raced even faster as I quickly got up and approached her. “Hey,” I whispered, taking her hand, but she didn’t respond. However, I could have sworn I saw her hand move. I sat next to her, again pondering what would happen when she woke up and realized she was in my house. The question that plagued my mind was how to reassure her I harbored no malicious intent.
- I’d also thought a lot about what my father said after returning from the pack meeting. He asked me if I could guarantee that Reyna wouldn’t turn on me like Inga did to Sage. Although I couldn’t respond to him verbally, I answered him in my thoughts. I said I could guarantee she wouldn’t turn on me, but how? I asked myself how I was so sure.
