• Ann shifted uncomfortably, her whole body aching as she tried to move. A harsh cough escaped her lips, the air in the room thick and stale. Slowly, she opened her eyes, wincing at the dull pain pounding in her skull. With great effort, she managed to sit up, but the rough rope binding her hands and legs together restricted her movements.
• Panic surged through her veins as she scanned her surroundings. The place was unfamiliar—a bare room with a single window, its glass fogged and dirty. The walls were old, the paint peeling in jagged strips, adding to the eerie stillness of her confinement. Her heart pounded erratically against her ribs, and a sharp pain behind her eyes made it hard to focus. As she tried to steady her breathing, she realized something else: a thick layer of tape covered her mouth, preventing her from making a sound.
• A sudden noise startled her. The door creaked open, revealing two men stepping inside. They were tall, broad-shouldered, and clad in dark clothing. Their expressions were unreadable, but their presence alone made her stomach twist with fear. Without a word, they each grabbed an arm and yanked her to her feet, dragging her out of the room.
