Chapter 33 A Quiet Connection

• Mr and Mrs. Harper had just returned from a long day at work. After freshening up, they gathered at the dining table with Darius and Ann for dinner. As usual, the meal was quiet and uneventful. The clinking of cutlery against plates was the only sound that filled the room, apart from the occasional soft conversation.
• "So, how was your little journey today?" Katherine Harper asked, taking a delicate bite of her beef. Her piercing gaze rested on her son.
• "It was good," Darius replied simply, not one for elaboration. "We got what we wanted." He quickly turned his focus back to his food.
