Chapter 12 An Old Prophecy

• Victor and Ann continued to talk about books as they moved from shelf to shelf. Ann stopped at a shelf as a particular book caught her eye. She moved closer to it and ran her fingers lightly along the spine of the book. "What is this, Victor?" she asked, her eyes still on the book.
• "That is an ancient book that contains the important history of our world," Victor explained, watching her pull the book off the shelf and into her hands. She blew the dust off the cover and let out a dry cough. "Careful, it's heavy," he added.
• Ann placed the book on a nearby table and opened it, flipping through the pages. "There is a lot more to our history than is being told," Ann heard Victor say. "I stopped learning about it because, not going to lie, it scared the shit out of me. And as the saying goes, what you don't know can't hurt you, and I agree with that," he added, his words making Ann chuckle.
