Chapter 35 Confiding In A Friend

  • Morning came faster than Ann expected. She groaned softly, burying her face deeper into the pillow. Her muscles ached from the previous day’s training, but it wasn’t just her soreness that kept her from immediately hopping out of bed. Her mind was still replaying the moment she had struck Darius with the sword, the way the blade had cut through his skin, the blood that followed, and the strange mix of emotions on his face. She couldn’t shake the guilt, no matter how many times he’d told her it was okay.
  • “Ann, wake up,” Darius’s voice broke through her thoughts. His tone was casual, but it still held that Alpha authority he always carried.
  • Ann groaned again, rolling onto her back to see him standing by the door, already dressed for school. His dark jeans and black button-up shirt fit him perfectly, and his hair was slightly damp from his shower. Despite the neutral look on his face, she couldn’t help but notice the faint scar from yesterday’s cut still visible just above his shoulder. Her stomach twisted at the sight, though she quickly looked away.
