• Kyle sat at a library table, his usual easygoing grin plastered across his face. He drummed his fingers on the wooden surface, glancing at the clock for the fifth time in three minutes. Samantha Parker was late, which was surprising, considering her reputation for punctuality and being the most meticulous student in their grade.
• When he spotted her walking toward him, he straightened in his chair, flashing his most charming smile. She carried a neatly organized binder in one hand and a book in the other, her glasses slipping slightly down her nose. Samantha’s expression was calm, unreadable, and entirely unaffected by Kyle’s presence.
