• Ann stared at her reflection in the mirror as Mia adjusted the strap of her dress. The elegant navy-blue gown Mia had chosen for her was simple yet stunning, with a subtle shimmer that caught the light every time she moved. The dress hugged her figure perfectly, cascading down in soft waves to the floor. Mia had also fixed her hair into a loose updo, leaving a few strands to frame her face. Despite the bruises on her chin and the bandages on her palms, Ann felt a flicker of confidence as she looked at herself.
