• Karen's eyes widened in surprise as Nicole revealed that she didn't have a boyfriend. "What?" Karen asked, her voice laced with incredulity. "But Ashley told me that you had a boyfriend!"
• Nicole looked down, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "She lied, Mom," Nicole admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm sorry, Mom. She didn't want to deal with your constant questions about when we're getting married, so she made something up."
• Karen's expression changed from surprise to understanding, and she smiled warmly at Nicole. "It's okay, sweetie," Karen said, her voice filled with love and acceptance. "I'm glad you accepted your mistake. But now, I'm even happier because now I get to choose a perfect partner for you and Ashley!"
