Chapter 38

Just as Nicole and Gage were basking in the warmth of their intimate moment, Gage's phone suddenly rang, shrill and insistent. He hesitated for a moment, his eyes darting towards the phone, before he quickly grabbed it and got out of bed.
"I'll take this outside," he muttered, his voice low and apologetic, as he swiftly exited the room, leaving Nicole alone.
Nicole watched him go, a faint furrow creasing her brow. She wondered who could be calling Gage at such an early hour, but she didn't have time to dwell on it. She had to get ready for work, and she couldn't afford to be late.
