Chapter 22

• Ashley sat on the bed, her body shaking with sobs. She had never felt so humiliated and hurt in her life. Just then she heard a door knock.
• Just as she was starting to calm down, she heard a knock at the door. She quickly wiped away her tears, thinking it might be Nicole coming to apologize or make amends. She took a deep breath, trying to compose herself, and made her way to the door.
• She opened it; she was shocked to see Lucas Brooks standing in the hallway, his eyes fixed intently on hers. Ashley's heart skipped a beat as she felt her face grow hot with embarrassment. She hadn't expected to see him again.
