Chapter 28

• Nicole's eyes snapped open at 5:00 AM, and she was instantly awake. She lay still for a moment, listening to the sound of Ashley's gentle snores coming from the other bed. She carefully threw off her covers and got out of bed, trying not to disturb her sister.
• She walked over to Ashley's bed and gently pulled the blanket up to her chin, making sure she was cozy and warm. Then, she turned and made her way to the balcony, sliding open the glass door and stepping out into the cool morning air.
• The cold breeze hit her like a slap in the face, and she shivered slightly, but she didn't mind. She loved the feeling of the early morning air, and she breathed deeply, feeling invigorated.
