He kept pace with her easily while she walked back to the chair at the other end of the yard. “I’m not being a baby, just cautious.” He tucked the letter opener in his back pocket, okay, so he was just a little afraid. “I didn’t think witches used blood; I thought that was just in the movies.”
Maddy stopped at the chair and set the cup carefully back on it. She picked up the stones they had tried using several times. “The curse is old, so blood would have been the most powerful substance to use to bind it.” She picked up the bags that held the two plants. Setting the stones in the bottom of the Quaich, she quickly set the herbs on them. Turning to him she held out her hand. “Give me the letter opener.” He stood there looking at her. She tilted her head to the side and smirked. “Afraid I’m going to lose it and spill a lot of blood?”
Colin shrugged. “No. I just want a bit of an outline here.”
Maddy sighed. “Just nick a finger with the knife and give it to me.”
Colin sighed and pulled the knife out of his pocket. “Wouldn’t it be better if we used a drop or something?” He really had no idea, his only experience being from movies and they’d use a drop in movies.
Maddy bit her lip. “Probably. Okay a drop over the stones.”
