Chapter 37 The Captive

  • Kay couldn’t see, hell, she could barely breathe, and not to mention that her hands and feet were tied. Her skin strained against the tight rope that bound her. She tried to call out for help, but whatever foul thing she held between her teeth kept the sound from escaping. Her mouth was so dry, and the air around her was too hot and uncomfortable.
  • She tried to recall what had happened, but her memory came up short. The last thing she remembered was the ride to the bar with Luke and Peyton. She tried to struggle past the drug-induced haze but found nothing. Blank as a new piece of paper. The sound of shuffling feet near her let her know she was not alone. She wanted nothing more than to rip whatever covered her face away and look her attacker in the eye.
  • The thought sent her mind spiraling as she remembered an eye. Two eyes to be exact. The emerald, green orbs that had belonged to David floating over her in Luke’s car. Fear filled her veins with ice, and she felt sweat build in the palms of her hands. Her body was clammy as she thought about what he was planning. He had done terrible things to her in the past and who knew what he was planning to do now?
