Chapter 27 An Olive Branch

• I climbed off the back of my bike in the parking lot of a large garish building. Its bland grey paint that peeled away from the wood and flat black windows made it look like it had been abandoned. Construction equipment littered the parking lot along with large piles of gravel. If I hadn’t known this was a business I would’ve thought I was in the wrong place. I slid my helmet into the side pouch of my bike and made my way to the large double doors. I wasn’t sure why Peyton had suddenly decided that we should meet, but I imagined it had to do with their upcoming monthly visit. It would be their first time alone since Kay had run away, and it was honestly carving a hole in my gut. I didn’t want her to be hurt, but she refused to divorce Peyton.
