Lillian stared at Shane in shock, her heart was beating loudly in her chest, his words were replaying in her mind. This was what she had always wanted, to have him supporting her, to have him by her side and to suddenly have it happening overwhelmed her that she couldn’t think of what to say at first, “Shane…”
“Lillian,” he cut in, letting go of her hand to tuck tendril of hair behind her hair, “I am sorry, I don’t know how many times I have to say that for you to believe me, but I can say it till the end of time just for you to see how sincere I am. I can’t begin to imagine the pains you have to go through alone, the sorrows you carried in your heart all these years. Ever since finding out you were married to Robert, I had been angry at him, but right now, even if you were married to him for real, I would only feel gratefulness to him.
