Chapter 39 Book 2: Six Pt-1

• It’s been a month since Lillian’s return and to her disappointment, things have not progressed between her and Shane. So many times she had tried to get him alone and talk but he either ignores her or hurts her with his words. Sometimes she doubts if he still has any little feelings for her, but anytime she sees how he acts like an obstacle whenever Xavier Gray tries to approach her, she would always rethink. Maybe Edna was right, he was hurting and the only way to relieve him from his pain is by telling him everything, how it all happened. But getting him to listen is her biggest challenge.
• Lying on the couch in her living room, she let her mind wander far to how life became the way it was, the first time she met Robert, the day he asked her to marry him, her wedding day. She sighed and closed her eyes, remembering how unhappy she was that day. Although Robert made her understand that it was for her own good and safety, it didn’t change the fact that she had only dreamt of marrying one man in her life and seeing everything not going according to the way she had wished, took a toll on her. She had cried the night before her wedding, wishing Shane would just appear from nowhere and tell her not to go ahead with it. But she made a promise, a promise she had to keep so she sucked in her pain and got married the next day.
• The voice of someone calling out to her brought her out of her thoughts, she looked up to see her assistant beside her. “Ma’am, I have something for you,” Philip announced.
