• We had lunch at the food court and then headed to the movies to pick a film. I let Caroline choose, and she went for an adventure movie over an animated one. William offered to buy the tickets—probably figuring that if I did it, I’d pick his seat as far away from mine as possible. He was absolutely right. I totally would’ve.
• “Let’s go!” he called, walking up to us with a bucket of popcorn in hand. He handed it to Caroline before we entered the theater. While she was distracted with the popcorn, William boldly placed one hand on my back as we walked to our seats.
• “I’m sitting in the middle,” William told Caroline.
