• As soon as time was up, it didn’t even take a full minute before someone knocked on the door. The four teachers who hadn’t exempted me from the wolf-related subjects walked in together, like they’d been waiting for that exact moment. They lined up along the side of the room as the principal stood up from her desk. The looks on their faces were so serious, it made me uncomfortable.
• “Since this is an urgent matter, they thought it would be best to grade the test right away,” the principal explained, handing each of them their respective sections. I waited patiently, watching their expressions as I anticipated the results. Aside from Lorraine’s grandfather, the others seemed to relax as they read through my answers. They looked satisfied.
• “Perfect score,” said the Wolf Control teacher, placing his portion on the desk and walking out.
