Chapter 109

• I didn’t go through any major torment over the weekend. When I went to give Caroline her piano lesson on Saturday afternoon, William wasn’t there. On Monday, I overheard some of my classmates saying that William wouldn’t be teaching the theory class — the beta would be taking his place instead. It was a great way to start the week. I left that class hoping William would be gone for a long time and that John would take over the subject for good.
• When I got home, I ignored all my responsibilities and went straight to bed. I planned to go back to the waterfall to talk to Mister Mysterious — it was the perfect time, especially with William out of the picture. When I woke up in the middle of the night, I grabbed a cereal bar and started eating it as I undressed. I left the house, hid the key in the bottom of the flowerpot, and shifted into wolf form.
• We’re free again! Lisa shouted inside me. I let her take full control and felt the joy of running alongside her. As soon as we got close to the waterfall, I retrieved the clothes I kept hidden in a bag hanging from a nearby tree. I got dressed quickly and rushed to the water.
