Chapter 30
- The sky was overcast, but the fresh breeze and the birds soaring happily overhead suggested it wouldn’t rain today. I sat on the edge of the fountain in the town’s main square, and Annie settled beside me.
- “Why did you want to walk to the square?” she asked.
- “I thought it would be a good place to wait.” Since I had managed to push the pain down, even if only temporarily, a ray of light broke through the fog in my mind. This wasn’t about me anymore.
