- “Oh my gosh, speak of the devil! Over there, right at the corner? Do you see him?” Tracy whispered excitedly in my ear, her voice barely contained as we stood in line for the assembly. The hall was already buzzing with chatter, students shuffling into their places, some looking as disinterested as I felt. But my heart rate spiked the moment I followed Tracy’s gaze.
- There he was. Nathan.
- He stood near the back of the hall, leaning casually against the wall with his arms crossed, like he owned the place. His bored expression gave off an air of superiority, but there was something dangerous lurking beneath that facade. His silver eyes scanned the room, sharp and predatory, even in his seemingly nonchalant posture. Despite his obvious disinterest, it was impossible to miss how naturally he commanded attention.
