Chapter 1 She Lusted Over the Warmth of His Embrace

  • Charlotte Joslin woke up in the middle of the night, feeling sore all over her body.
  • No one would believe her if she said it, but she had rolled in bed with Darius Leynthall earlier that night.
  • This was her first time, and pain was all she could describe the experience.
  • The only two things that stuck in her mind were how provocative it was when Darius' stubble brushed against her face and how it made her blood boil when he breathed against her neck, kissed her ear, and their skin-to-skin contact that was accompanied by his deep, magnetic voice.
  • The whole time, Darius mumbled a name by her ear. Though she never caught the name, it didn't dampen her first experience one bit.
  • Darius was still asleep when she woke up, and for some reason, she thought she had gotten a lot closer to this man when she looked at his cold face. She lusted over the warmth of his embrace and even whimsically wanted to continue lying by his side while hugging him to sleep. However, she knew she'd be asking for trouble if she didn't leave now.
  • Darius was the CEO of NeoEast International, and now that she had done the deed with him, she didn't even need to think to figure out the consequences. If she was lucky, she'd only be fired and kicked out of the office. If she wasn't, she'd be charged with the crime of 'seducing the CEO', leaving her a bad name. Consequently, she wouldn't be able to continue living in Wimbourn.
  • The day before was the first day of the company's team building retreat, and after Darius got drunk that night, he grabbed Charlotte by the hand and kissed her without warning as she helped him to his room. Her mind went blank at first, and she wanted to resist him. However, she fell into a trance when she saw his face and could no longer push him away.
  • She was an intern at the company, and she hadn't even had a first-hand encounter with Darius before this.
  • At the moment, Charlotte tiptoed out of his room and back to hers, thinking she could pretend nothing had ever happened. At 6.00PM the same day, a few buses parked at the hotel entrance.
  • Charlotte boarded the bus with another intern, Lucia Hale. As soon as she entered, she was startled by the person who was resting in the first row.
  • It was none other than President Leynthall!
  • The only two empty seats left on the bus were behind Darius', and Charlotte's face instantly flushed crimson. Since she and Lucia were the last few to board the bus, she had no choice but to sit behind him now.
  • "Didn't President Leynthall drive here? Why is he on the bus with us?" Lucia whispered in Charlotte's ear.
  • Lucia had a loud voice, which wasn't necessarily bad—it was just loud. Even when she whispered, everyone else could hear her.
  • "Beats me," Charlotte answered with her head low.
  • From the moment she boarded the bus, she had been shielding her face with her hand for fear that Darius would recognize her.
  • However, she also thought he might not even have any memory of last night. Perhaps, even if he did, he didn't know who the person was. After all, the two of them had never crossed paths before this. What was more, he was drunk, and the lights had been switched off most of the night…
  • The journey back was long and boring, so Lucia began fiddling with her phone. Charlotte was tempted by this, and she wanted to pull her phone out as well. However, no matter where she searched, she couldn't find it.
  • With that, she nudged Lucia. "Could you call my phone? I seem to have lost it."
  • "Where did you leave it?" Lucia asked inattentively while calling 'Lottie Joslin'.
  • In no time, a melodious ringtone echoed through the bus. However, it didn't come from Charlotte's bag or her luggage, but from the seat in front. Even more specifically, it was coming from Darius' hands.
  • Instantly, she had goosebumps all over her body.
