Chapter 18 You'll See It Someday

  • Charlotte guessed that Darius probably didn't feel comfortable letting Sebastian live in Myrefall alone, so he planned to have his grandfather live with him, and if Sebastian were to come over, they had to have a wedding photo on the wall.
  • Would that mean she'd have to move in with him as well?
  • When Saturday came, Charlotte followed Darius' address to a massive photography studio, and the man was already there by the time she arrived.
  • She tried on the wedding dress and found it fit snuggly, and she couldn't help thinking back to when he sized her up in the elevator. One glance was all it took for him to get her exact measurements.
  • Darius glanced over at Charlotte when she came out. Words like youthful, shapely, stunning, and whatnot weren't even enough to describe her, and the pearl necklace on her neck accentuated her collar bone, making her look stunningly youthful.
  • A thought came to Darius' mind when he saw Charlotte in the snow-white wedding dress.
  • Grow old with me, for the best is yet to be.
  • F*cking hell!
  • Darius' gaze didn't stay on Charlotte for long, returning to his discussion with the photographer. However, his mind seemed to be elsewhere.
  • Meanwhile, Charlotte noticed Darius too. The black suit he had on made him look super hot, and she couldn't help shying away.
  • While other couples would complain that one full-day shoot wasn't enough, Darius and Charlotte got everything done within an hour.
  • After changing back into her regular clothes, Charlotte chirped to Darius while carrying her bag, saying, "President, please send me a copy when you have the wedding photos, will you?"
  • Meanwhile, Darius was rolling up his sleeves. "You're excited about this, huh?" he asked with a deadpan face.
  • "Yeah." Charlotte's eyes lit up.
  • "Don't worry, you'll see it someday. Grandpa's not home today, so you can make your own arrangements. As for when we'll be going again, wait for my text."
  • Darius was talking to her like he was just giving orders.
  • "Perfect. I signed up for CPA tuition online a few days ago, and they told me to verify some things at the center. I should see to it today," she said with a smile, hiding her eagerness to be with him.
  • However, Darius drove away without saying a word, leaving her embarrassed and disappointed. She was embarrassed because he actually left without a word when she had rambled so much, giving herself away.
  • Who knew when would be the next time she'd get to see him?
  • In the afternoon, Charlotte went to The Monolith, the building where the CPA tuition center was located.
  • In actuality, she had always been a learning robot, and she managed to pass the first four CPA units without any help. However, now that she was working, she didn't have much time to focus on her papers anymore. Thus, she deliberately paid eighteen thousand for a seemingly fail-proof tuition class online, for she heard the teachers here all used to be famous straight-A students.
  • The class commenced at 3.00PM, and a handsome young man entered, walking up to the lectern. The girls in the class couldn't help but gasp, marveling at their tutor's good looks.
  • After writing the words 'Eli Chester' on the blackboard, the tutor announced, "You guys can call me Mr. Chester. Now, let's start the class."
  • Eli Chester? Charlotte furrowed her brows slightly. Is it a coincidence?
  • Mr. Chester made a name for himself the year he got his CPA license by passing four units in one go. His classes were easy to understand, and he was great at predicting the exam questions.
  • Charlotte was genuinely impressed by this tutor, and now she was even more confident that this was a coincidence. There was no way he would have contacted her through WhatsApp when he didn't know her before this.
  • Charlotte walked out of The Monolith after her class ended to find her brother waiting in a car by the side of the road.
  • "What are you doing here?" she asked.
  • Aiden popped his head out of the car. "Hey, my dear little sister now has the money to go for tuition classes, eh? Have you hit the jackpot recently? Dr. Frost even told me you want to hire a caretaker for Mom."
  • The last time he went to the hospital, Dr. Frost told him about Charlotte's intention of hiring a caretaker for Audrey by chance, and at that time, he couldn't help wondering how Charlotte had gotten the money for that.
  • "I've been promoted to an official staff," answered Charlotte, trying to prevaricate.
  • "Sh*t, that means you've made a fortune, haven't you? When are you going to finally treat me?"
  • Charlotte was so done with her older brother and wanted to leave. Just as she turned, she heard his tone changing as he fawned and said, "Please hop in, Mr. Eli."
  • Reflexively, she turned around to find Eli standing there.
  • "Joslin?" Eli recognized her too, having met in the classroom earlier.
  • "Mr. Eli, do you know my sister? Haha, what a coincidence!" Aiden eyed thievishly at Charlotte before shifting his gaze to Eli.
  • "Hello, Mr. Chester," Charlotte greeted Eli politely.
  • "Why don't you get in too, Charlotte?" Eli said to Charlotte.
  • "Yes, don't act shy anymore when Mr. Eli has already asked you to get in the car. Hurry up." With that, Aiden shoved Charlotte into the car, making her sit next to Eli at the back.
  • "Mr. Eli, did you manage to contact my sister through WhatsApp?" Aiden beamed with delight while driving.
  • "Oh, I contacted her once some time ago. But she didn't reply, so I just left it be," Eli explained. "I thought it was just a coincidence and that it was just someone else with the same name when I roll-called earlier. Why don't we exchange numbers now, Charlotte?"
  • "Well, sure." Charlotte was slow to react. She pulled her phone out and let Eli scan her WhatsApp QR code.
  • Eli's WhatsApp ID was just 'Eli Chester' as well, so Charlotte didn't deliberately change his ID.
