Leynthall furrowed his brow slightly. He didn't mention it to Zhu Shu, but she overheard. She was pondering whether she should buy some ingredients to show respect if guests were coming. Without them, she feared being ridiculed. People might mock Leynthall for marrying a lazy wife. Nevertheless, the marriage was a done deal, and some face-saving measures had to be taken.
With these thoughts in mind, she purchased fish, shrimp, beef, and an assortment of vegetables in the afternoon. Just before Leynthall returned from work, she busied herself in the kitchen with Mrs. Joslin.
"Madam, are we expecting guests?" Mrs. Joslin inquired.
