Chapter 34 The Threat Keeps Coming
- A crumpled piece of paper landed squarely on Sophie’s desk, startling her from her thoughts. She quickly glanced around the classroom, scanning the faces for any signs of guilt. But no one looked back. The other students seemed engrossed in the lecturer’s monotone voice, scribbling notes or pretending to pay attention.
- Her curiosity piqued, Sophie slowly unfolded the paper, a small smile tugging at her lips in anticipation of a lighthearted note or even a joke. But the smile vanished as soon as she read the words scrawled hastily across the paper. “Stay away from Larry.” The message read.
- Her heart raced. She scanned the room again, this time with more urgency, searching for any clue as to who might have sent it. But every face looked innocent, indifferent, as if they were all oblivious.
