Chapter 28 The Promises

• “Dad?” Larry’s voice wavered as he turned, meeting his father’s piercing gaze. “Why are you here? What happened to Florida?” His words came out in a rush, panic evident as he hastily pulled his shirt back on.
• Mr. Russo didn’t respond immediately. He took a few seconds to assimilate the situation, his eyes not leaving Sophie, trembling on the bed. Without acknowledging Larry’s questions, he stormed over, grabbed Sophie by the arm, and yanked her off the bed. “How dare you?” His voice was cold, eyes darkening with fury. “My son?” he snarled, his face turning crimson as his rage boiled over.
• He shoved her against the wall, luckily her clothes were still on. His hand squeezing her neck down. “I'm going to kill you, you little brat,” he spat, his grip tightening.
