Chapter 96
- KELILAH'S POV
- I woke up to a searing pain splitting through my skull, as if molten iron had been poured into my brain. A whimper escaped my lips, and I clenched my duvet, my fingers twisting into the soft fabric as though I could transfer the pain elsewhere. My head pulsed with an unbearable force, each throb a hammer striking against my skull.
- Tears slipped down my cheeks, unbidden, hot against my chilled skin. Never in my life had I felt such agony—not when I was punished for disobedience as a child, not even when I fell from my horse and bruised my ribs. This... this was different. This was something beyond the physical. It was as if something was clawing at the edges of my mind, forcing its way in or perhaps tearing something out.
