Chapter 59

  • KORVUS’ POV**
  • The silence was deafening. The kind of calm that sent a shiver down your spine, warning you that something sinister lurked beneath it. It was just past 8pm, but the desolate streets painted a picture as though no one had lived here in decades. Yet, the fresh blood and the lifeless bodies scattered on the ground betrayed that illusion.
  • On any normal evening, people would still be roaming the kingdom at this hour. Bazil was supposed to be seen as a sanctuary, a place where anyone could feel safe and secure. Conflicts were supposed to be rare. But I guess reverse was the case, none of that mattered here, where the creatures of the night resided. These beings, fearless and reckless, saw humans as nothing more than weak prey, easy to be destroyed. It was their arrogance, and their belief in their superiority, that would eventually lead to their own downfall. And of course the witches were no exception to this.
