- The forest was quiet, almost unnaturally so—just the soft crunch of dry leaves beneath Rita’s steps broke the stillness. She walked with a heavy heart, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her robe, lost in the memory of what had happened earlier with Korvus—the very man she had once pitied.
