• KELILAH'S POV
• The journey to Bazil continued without delay, despite the terrifying events that had unfolded. If anything, those events only reminded us how unsafe the path was, and it pushed us to quicken our pace. We had to reach Bazil before midnight.
• Zara stayed awake the entire time, keeping a close watch over me. I could sense her determination—she wasn’t about to let me out of her sight again. Who knew what trick I might try pulling next? But, in truth, trick was far from my mind. The image of the man who saved me in the forest played over and over in my head.
