• Roselyn and I didn't waste any more time. We headed straight to the police station and requested the detective's presence. The new evidence I had discovered was a crucial turn to the investigation. First of all, we now knew Robert Perry had secret allies inside Hunt Industries, and some of the top executives had been covering up for him all along, perhaps even since Mr. Hunt passed away.
• The detective was shocked by my declaration. His hand trembled slightly as he brought the coffee cup to his lips. "Jeremias Nucci? You're telling me your boss is protecting Perry?"
• "I assume that, yes." My face was grim, dimmed by worry. "Maybe they were just using Samantha, after all. She had a plan to kill Tyler, and they played along because it was convenient for them, but she was only a small piece in their puzzle. What they really want is to take over Hunt Industries."
