Chapter 20 Safe As Houses
- Roselyn returned to the mansion a few days after Samantha’s arrest. Given the circumstances, the judge determined she had the right to recover possession of the property. Most of Mr. Hunt’s bank accounts were still frozen, but Roselyn would gradually regain control of them and the rest of her inheritance. Unfortunately, Samantha’s lawyer had stolen many crucial documents for the case, which would slow down the entire process.
- I helped Roselyn get rid of Samantha's possessions and reorganize the staff. I watched as she strolled up the grand driveway, her posture confident yet guarded. She had endured a transformative journey, and now she was back where it all began—the majestic mansion that symbolized her privileged world. We purged the house of Samantha's presence. Every trace of her had to be erased, from the luxurious bedroom she once occupied to the subtle influences she had woven into the mansion's daily routines. It was a tedious process, but it empowered Roselyn, giving her a sense of reclaiming her birthright.
- As we worked, I noticed subtle changes in Roselyn's demeanor. She carried herself with a new-found maturity, as if the weight of her experiences had aged her soul. The entitled, carefree girl I once knew was now a distant memory. In her place stood a woman who had faced pain and emerged victorious, though not unscathed. Her eyes held a certain wariness, as if she had learned the hard way that trust could be a liability. Despite these inner transformations, Roselyn embraced her restored world of wealth and glamour. She took great pleasure in reorganizing the house, ensuring every detail of her new, old life was perfect. Yet, there was an underlying sense of unease, a subtle tension in the air. Perhaps it was the lingering shadow of Samantha's deceit or the knowledge that, despite her best efforts, some wounds take time to heal.
