Chapter 19 Pandora's Box

  • I could barely sleep that night. The detective’s words, and his methodic plans, still echoed inside me. I was also blown away by Samantha’s audacity. I always knew she was ruthless and problematic, just like her ex-husband once was. But I never considered her capable of such evil. She had hurt Roselyn and my mother for years, and now, she had taken away a sick man’s life, for the sake of money and power. If we didn’t stop her now, and all of her secret allies, who knows how dark our fates could turn in the future.
  • Lynn and my mother were equally shocked by the revelation, and they promised to keep it a secret, until the police operation took place. Mom, however, was worried about my wellbeing, and didn’t want me to run so many risks on behalf of Roselyn. She obviously wasn’t aware, and probably would never know, about my feelings for her, the way we ran back into each other’s arm each passing day.
  • Over the last year, our rivalry had faded almost magically, and a powerful friendship formed instead. We found solace in each other, a safe haven from the chaos and toxicity that surrounded us. Our bond kept strengthening, and soon, I realized my feelings for her ran deeper than I had ever imagined. It was a surprise to me, as I had never expected to feel this way about anyone. Let alone Miss Roselyn Hunt.
