• I hang up and walk over to the door waiting for her. She parks the car and sits in it for a minute before finally coming out. She looks up and sees me, and the first thing I notice is that she isn’t smiling like she usually does. Maybe they scared her. I grit my teeth. I can’t wait to get my hands on whoever those fuckers are.
• “Papi,” I pull her into my arms and hug her tightly before she can finish.
• “I’m glad you’re safe, sweetie.”I pull away and give her a once-over to ensure she isn’t hurt.
