• I stood frozen in the doorway, my hand still on the doorknob, heart hammering wildly in my chest. Dominic was there, bending over the crib, shirtless. His broad back was to me, muscles shifting and tauting under his skin as he moved to soothe Justin, who seemed to be half asleep. I felt a rush of heat bloom across my cheeks. He hadn't noticed me yet, and for a brief moment, I considered turning around, slinking back to my room to gather my thoughts. But it was too late.
• He glanced over his shoulder, catching sight of me before I could make my escape. There was no avoiding it now. I had to face him. I took a step into the room, my legs wobbly as if the floor beneath me had turned to jelly. He turned fully to face me, and I sucked in a breath.
