Chapter 42 Another Trouble

• Dominic’s brow furrowed as his eyes scanned through the pages of a documents he was flipping through when suddenly his office door burst open slamming against the wall with a resounding thud that almost made him jump. His eyes instantly glanced to the door, his heart skipping a beat as he saw Ruby standing in the doorway, her face pale and drawn, eyes filled with fear. She looked as if she’d run the entire way, her breath coming in short, frantic gasps. Her usually composed face was streaked with tears, and her eyes wide with a terror that sent a cold jolt of dread through Dominic. She clutched her phone in her hand, her knuckles white from the grip, and the fear in her expression was like nothing he’d ever seen before.
• “She’s gone, Dominic.” Ruby’s voice cracked as she choked out the words, her chest heaving. “Emma’s gone.”
