• In anger, I entered my car, my foot pressing on the brake as I turned the ignition. My hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, knuckles turning white.
• What the hell was I thinking? That a man who barely knew me was just going to hand over his property to me because he loved my mother? How stupid of me. I should’ve known there was something attached to it. He had presented himself like an angel, unable to hurt a fly, and I had let him deceive me.
