• I sat in the waiting room, my heart pounding heavily as I waited for the scientist to call me in. The sterile smell of the lab mingled with the faint scent of antiseptic, making my stomach churn. The possibilities ran through my mind, each one more unsettling than the last. The resemblance between Emma and me was too much... too much to be ignored. But I knew I wasn’t her father; after all, Ruby and I had never been together. Yet, I knew she was definitely related to me, and this DNA result would prove it.
