- I lingered in bed for a moment longer after Dominic left, the memory of his teasing smile and the way his fingers had twirled a strand of my hair replayed in my head. I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. There was no sense dwelling on it. Dominic was still an asshole, an ass I couldn’t let get under my skin. Not like this.
- I threw the covers off, the cool air brushing against my skin as I sat up. The house was still, the only sound the faint rustle of the trees outside the window and the distant hum of the city beyond. I glanced at the clock on the nightstand—just past seven. The day was already starting to unfold, and I needed to get moving.
