Chapter 11 Broken Leg

  • Yan Anmo cried all night. When she dragged herself out of bed in the morning, her eyes were red and swollen, but she was not in the mood to eat breakfast. Instead, she headed straight to school.
  • She walked in through the school gates and headed straight for her classroom, her eyes scanning for Su Ci the entire time. But, the more she hoped to see him, the more disappointed she felt. She sat down in her seat in a daze; her mind was filled with images of Su Ci getting his leg broken.
  • She sensed that a lot of people were looking at her, but when she carefully glanced at them, they quickly looked away like nothing happened.
  • These people were all good friends of Su Ci's.
  • Yan Anmo's heart sped up. She tried to push herself to take the initiative and ask these people whether Su Ci had returned home. But, her body felt like it was stuck to her seat, unable to move.
  • The more she was like this, the more she suffered.
  • A moment later, she felt the people looking at her again. This time, she finally gathered the courage to walk over.
  • "Excuse me, why isn't Su Ci at school today?" Yan Anmo asked with guilt as she avoided their gaze. If something happened to Su Ci, she would not be able to forgive herself.
  • "Don't you know the reason why he's not here?" Zhang Cheng asked in an annoyed manner. He was Su Ci's best friend and he was obviously unimpressed with Yan Anmo. But, it was clear that he knew where Su Ci was.
  • "Oh, forget it. Let's just assume Su Ci was momentarily blind. He helped her so many times, yet she kicked him aside when they were in trouble!" the people next to Zhang Cheng pulled him back as they looked sideways at Yan Anmo.
  • Their tone was full of mockery and their words were hurtful.
  • "I told you ages ago that good girls like this are the biggest b*tches, but you didn't believe me. Su Ci even helped her deal with Ding Shan. Look what happened now, Su Ci broke his leg and went to the hospital because of her, yet she's asking questions like she doesn't know a thing. What a b*tch!" Ding Shan's friend said as she stood up. Previously, everyone was siding with Yan Anmo, so now that she had the opportunity, she was definitely using it to insult her.
  • "Is Su Ci in the hospital?" Yan Anmo's nerves suddenly tensed up; she was both happy and sad. She was happy that Su Ci walked out of the factory alive, but she was sad that he was admitted to hospital. Moreover, this was all her fault.
  • "Which hospital is he in?" Yan Anmo stepped forward anxiously, completely ignoring the sound of the school bell. At that moment, all she wanted to do was rush to the hospital to see Su Ci.
  • The teacher arrived and everyone quickly returned to their seats. But, Yan Anmo remained standing in front of Zhang Cheng's desk, pleading and hoping with her eyes. Zhang Cheng's heart suddenly tightened; how could he withstand a gaze like that? So, he turned and pretended not to see her.
  • "Yan Anmo, class has started, hurry back to your seat." The teacher always had a good impression of Yan Anmo. She was obedient, self-disciplined, and she had good academic results. But, he couldn't understand what was up with her today.
  • "Zhang Cheng, please, let me know where he is..." Yan Anmo completely ignored her teacher as she whispered humbly. Apart from her Uncle Seven, she had never treated anyone like this before.
  • She was going all out.
  • But, Zhang Cheng continued to ignore her.
  • "Yan Anmo!" the teacher was angry with what he saw.
  • Zhang Cheng's heart softened. Yan Anmo was normally very well-behaved and never did anything that attracted criticism, but she was acting out of character because of Su Ci.
  • "The First Hospital, Orthopedic Ward," Zhang Cheng said between gritted teeth.
  • Yan Anmo finally received the answer she wanted. Glancing at Zhang Cheng thankfully, she immediately ran out to look for Su Ci.
  • "Yan Anmo, where are you going?" the teacher was shocked. No student had ever run out in the middle of his class!
  • Not to mention, the student was Yan Anmo!
  • Everyone was dumbfounded. What was this situation?
  • However, Zhang Cheng developed an indescribable feeling in his heart. There was slight admiration and slight warmth.
  • Yan Anmo had no money on her and she had never gone out on her own, so even the streets near her school were not familiar to her. Thus, she had no choice but to endlessly ask for directions.
  • Finally, she arrived at The First Hospital, completely exhausted, sweaty, messy, and a little helpless.
  • "Nurse, is there a patient named Su Ci?" she asked breathlessly as she approached the reception desk. She was so tired that she couldn't speak properly.
  • "Are you looking for Su Ci?" Before the nurse managed to respond, an elegant woman suddenly spoke up beside her. She had a serious and unhappy look on her face.
  • Yan Anmo nodded. Judging by her clothes, she already had her answer.
  • "Are you his classmate?"
  • "I am his mother. Can I ask who he was with last night?"
  • "I asked a bunch of people, but they all said they didn't know. Do you know?" For some unknown reason, Mother Su did not like Yan Anmo.
  • Yan Anmo suddenly froze, too afraid to even take a deep breath as she clenched the corner of her shirt.
  • "Who caused my son to break his leg? I'm going to skin them alive!"
  • As soon as she heard these words, Yan Anmo's nose tingled and tears began to fall from her eyes uncontrollably.
