Chapter 9 Revenge?

  • Every day was full of laughter and tears. The anxious wait for half a month felt like a year for me.
  • I dashed out of the bathroom. Along the way, I could not stop myself from giggling.
  • Bobby saw my tear stains, then said to me with a sad face, "Mommy, don't cry. I'm not in pain anymore."
  • Bobby's presence warmed my heart. I hugged his thin figure and said over and over again, "I'm fine. I've found the hope to save you."
  • After saying that, under Bobby's frightened gaze, I grabbed his small hand, put it on my stomach which was still flat, and whispered, "As long as I have this baby, I'll definitely be able to save you."
  • Bobby looked at my stomach with amazement, and a smile bloomed on his face. "Mommy, you have a baby? From now on, you'll have companym and you don't have to be sad anymore..."
  • Once he said that sentence, his tears started falling down.
  • "No. You'll be fine as long as I'm here."
  • As long as there was hope, I would not give up.
  • I was not sure how to tell Jeremy about being pregnant, so I kept delaying it.
  • The payment for Bobby's follow-up treatment had not been settled yet, so I was extremely agitated and anxious.
  • I urgently need to find a job and earn money. The only person who can take care of Bobby was my grandmother, but I did not trust her to take care of Bobby alone, so I found another caretaker.
  • My child's medical fees and caretaker expenses added up to a lot.
  • As I was lost without any direction, the manager of a bar I had previously worked called me.
  • That was when I knew that because of my passion and willingness to put my life on the line to make a living at the bar had become well known, I had attracted customers with special fetishes. There were a few customers that specifically requested me.
  • This time, the guest was someone immensely influential. The manager could not handle the guest and was asking for my help in handling the situation.
  • It could be said that although this job is hazardous, it was the right solution for my urgent needs.
  • I talked to the manager a few times and dragged the matter a bit before agreeing to do it. The price depended on the level of danger, and money from the guests was to be split between the bar and me.
  • At around nine o'clock, I took a car, rushed over to the bar, and asked for the room number from the manager. Just as I opened the door, getting ready to greet everyone, I froze in fright.
  • To my surprise, the person sitting in the middle of the sofa was Henry. My smile suddenly faded, and I felt the urge to run away.
  • I looked around the room. Other than Henry, there was also his assistant, an elegant-looking middle-aged man, and a few bodyguards.
  • The middle-aged man looked like a foreigner. He could not speak that well.
  • He pointed at me and asked Henry, "That is the girl that gambles with her life?"
  • Henry looked at me with an ambiguous smile and confusingly said, "She dares to do more than just gambling with her life."
  • After listening to Henry, the middle-aged man seemed to show interest, then lowered his head and whispered with Henry.
  • I was not close enough to listen to their conversation. However, my heart was not at peace from the moment I entered the room, possibly due to the thought of having drugged Henry in the past.
  • Since I had just found out I was pregnant, I was scared that he might notice it, and I was feeling quite awkward.
  • After their conversation, Henry waved to call his assistant, then looked at me with unclear intentions.
  • When the assistant returned, he was holding a bow and some arrows in his hands.
  • After seeing the bow and arrows, I felt less scared instead, maybe because of my previous experience of throwing knives. Before I came, I was also mentally prepared.
  • Henry took the set of bow and arrows, walked toward me, and shoved it into my hands before I could react. His low and attractive voice rang in my ears. "Come here."
  • "Huh? Me?"
  • When the weight of the bow and arrow fell into my hands, I looked at Henry with a look of disbelief.
  • Henry nodded, and with the corner of his lips curled up in a nasty smile he said, "Yes, you shoot the arrows, and the others will be the targets."
  • Hearing Henry's words, I thought that the man was crazy. The arrowheads glinted coldly, and it was clear that they were not toys.
  • I slammed the bow and arrows on the table. "Sorry, I don't know how to shoot."
